Does it matter what LS1 I get to put back into my T/A I can get a 98 with 46k miles on it or a 99 with 37k on it. Either for 2.5k Ive got a 98 T/A. but if I get the 99 would it matter? Thanksss

I thought those early ls1 had ring sealing issues. If you have 2.5 to play with look at a buget engine build. Like a 6.0L short block with some used ls6 heads and a ls6 intake.

There were cam, intake and fuel injector changes through the years if I recall. I think earlier engines also had more rod bolt and oil pump issues.

I'd definitely take my time with 2500 to spend. You could possibly get a LS6 for that. Check around. 6.0L would be nice too...

Ive been looking for months. Thats the best deal I could find. 3 year warrenty with them. Ive found some for alittle less, but they had more miles and no warrenty. Im just gonna go for a straight drop in, but I dont know if there are any major diff. between the 98's or 99/00 that will make me need to do more work to install the engine. If not much diff. Then Ill get the little bit late engine.

    '98 PCM's are also different than '99-02.

you don't say if it's a short or long block (I'm assuming long block due to the price) but with the choice get the 99.......there were fairly significant oiling changes after 98 plus better heads.

Not sure how flexible your budget is but scoggin dickey had crate ls6 new from gm for $2999 and crate engine depot has them for $3500 http://www.crateenginedepot.com/stor...P2143C273.aspx . Scoggin doesnt have them on their website so you would have to call. Im not sure if the above link is allowed if its not please just remove it.. Thanks

ls6 for just a tad more money is way worth besides the extra 55hp kick in the ass you get a better block casting heads, and cam. Later on if you decide to upgrade the cam even more the heads will already be done lol. Full bolt on ls6=380whp full bolt on ls1=340whp
