6.0 L truck motor into 1999 ws6
My brother burned out 2 pistons in the ls1 in his 1999 Firebird ws6. We have a 6 L truck motor that we were thinking of swapping. Will this motor accept all of the alt, power steering, and air conditioning brackets? Also are there any other things that may pose a problem?

You're good to go, everything swaps over fine. Long block? Just swap right over. Short block, make sure you have the right head gaskets/etc.

Intake wouldn't fit.
But, I have the LQ9 block in my 1999. Direct replacement. One hole needs drilled and tapped for the alternator.

did the intake ports not match up? also would the heads from the ls1 bolt onto the 6 L to fix the intake problem?

Then it will be fine.
What heads are on the 6L motor? LQ9 heads or L92?

That is the LQ9 head. Your car intake should fit on them.
Probably wouldn't hurt to put the LS1 heads on it though. I would do some research on it. Compression, flow, etc...

Nothing like a Trans Am revving his engine up and it sounding like a truck. I'm not down with it. There's a kid with a swap here in town and it sounds terrible coming from behind such a beautiful midnight blue metallic car.

Yeah I was not so worried about the head gasket since I planned on Cometics (they should be different for the LS1 and LQ9 because of the bore size). Just trying to plan how much I will need to spend on the little things so I can budget it into my build. Been kind of a pain finding gaskets (other then the head gaskets) for an LQ9, but the LS1 they are easy to quickly look up.

The outside of the block is no different than the LS1. I used LS1 seals/gaskets/covers on mine.
Of course the bore on the head gaskets will be different.....
You want just a hair over your bore. Then pick thickness.
