    500hp crank??

hello i know this is going to sound like a newbie question. Also i wasn;t sure if i should ask it hear. Any who i was wondering if some can tell me what i will need to attain 500 crank hp on an LS1 or LS6? Also is it hard to get that much or can more be had for a little more money than what say 500 hp would cost.

    Thank You
    Tony

A supercharger would probably do it.

The cost would probably be like $7500 in parts, labor, and tuning.

Heads and a 224 or a 228 cam should get you to 500 at the flywheel. S/C or turbo will get you there and there is always nitrous.

The amount can vary pretty widely. A set of Patriot Stage 2 heads give really nice flow for $1,000-1,200, or you could pay around $2,200 for a set of AFR's. I don't know that you would pick up much more HP with the AFR's to justify the cost. The cam will run you in the $300-$400 range. A lot of people change the oil pump when they pull the cam because it has to come off to do the cam. Depending on mileage you may want to change lifters. You will need to throw a set of pushrods in no matter which route you choose. I would also toss in a set of headers if you don't have them already. Also don't forget to save some money for the dyno tune. In all things start to kinda count up and since different shops charge different amounts for the parts it is hard to give an exact number. Also are you planning on doing the swap yourself or letting someone else do it. BTW 500 at the crank is not very hard to attain since it is more like 400 at the wheels. Is the car a stick or automatic.
