heads, cam, intake, exhaust, lid, maybe n2o, start there. but remember it doesn't matter how much you have, if you can't put it to the ground.

best way to do it would be use a 402 engine and go from there.
as for the 346ci ls1, its not gonna be all to easy.
the car wont all too streetable.
to get to around 500 rwhp, youll need a big cam like a lg g5x3 cam, afr heads, fast intake, nick williams throttle body, long tube headers computer tuning and so on.
even with above, i dont see above making more than 450 to the rear

I got 500RWHP from my LS1....H/C...Headers/Intakes/Ported-Polished TB and a 100 shot of nitrous....didnt last long though....LS1 can't take it....unless of course you build/forge the bottom end...then of course you have spent more/as much money as you would spend if you just dropped a 402 forged stroker motor in....and a LS1 aint gonna run with a stroker....if your goal is 500RWHP get a 383 or 402/408 Stroker and have at it
This is my signature. It is mine. Nobody else has one like it.

Making the 500 with a stroker motor isn't hard. Making the stock rear last is. Getting an A4 to live behind 500 horsepower isn't all that easy either. I don't know what transmission you have. If it's a manual, hooking up 500 horsepower is going to be a challenge. 500 horsepower is a number that seems to be thrown around all the time these days. Just remember that's a whole lotta power.

500 from a stock cubic inch ls1 without a power adder is not going to happen.

nope dont think so either. My buddies ta has afr heads, cam, intake, longtubes, all motor he is laying down around 430 to 450. My car with just a cam, 125 wet shot, and a loudmouth with stock cats and manifolds is laying down 466 rwhp and 525 rwtq with no problems. As soon as i do my longtubes and y pipe i will have my 500hp with stock heads. And i have almost 90k on my car. So doing a H/C package with a shot of juice or a F/I setup shouldnt be a problem, as long as you have the money.

500rwhp can be done on a stock bottom end. Good set of heads increasing compression and supporting mods. Might as well build a new motor though.

So it doesnt matter if its an ls1 or ls6, as long as the cubes are starting at 383 and up, plus supporting mods, you should be close to or at 500hp?

All you need to do is purchase this guys car. He got it up to 435+RWHP without heads, cam, nitrous, or FI of any kind on the stock block 346ci LS1. I'd buy his and get a good set of heads and a wild cam and you should be there no problem.

i think you should concentrate more on how "fast" you want your car then how much power you want it to make. There's alot of guys with ~420-440 rwhp cam only that run 10's with proper setup.

that was going to be my next point. If your goal is just 500 hp, then dont expect to be able to show it off on the street. The car will more than likely be a dog till about 4k or so. This is gonna be a top end only car. Is there a certain ET or trap you want?

the cams that htose people run are generally the TREX, also the LG G5x4 cam, and theres now a new one called the "trex killer" which is running like a 10.2x or maybe even a 10.1x. They also have supporting mods like the Fast 90/90, high stall, generally 4000 - 5500, slicks and skinnies, etc. Also most have some weight reduction, some have alot of weight reduction.

of course full exhaust and bolt ons! and there gearing is usually 4.10+.
heres the fastest "cam only" list form ls1 tech, you can see there full setup, raceweight, cam, gears, etc. it will give you an idea of where u'll want to be for the cam only 10 sec ride.
    http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showth...ht=fastest+cam

with those type of cams you need to fully upgrade your valve train and also gonna want to upgrade your rod bolts, becuz you'll want to spin your ls1 upwards of 7500 rpm!
