5.3 truck engine mods

I was wondering if anyone knew if ls1 top ends from vette would work on 2005 5.3 truck. I am looking to mod my z71 a little and would like to take the practical approach with some take off c5 vette parts. any info would be great. - rob

they'll work but won't necessarily add power. the ls1 intake is worse than your truck intake thats on there now, depends on what heads are coming off the c5. if they're 241's you'd have to have them milled to raise your compression back up...243's would be sweet though

A cam from a ZO6 would work good. The 5.3 heads are a lot better then you think. An ls1 intake will kill your low end torque. LS1 heads and intake need to wait untill you go the forced induction route.

there is no way a 5.3 intake outflows a ls1... i have a book with charts saying the ls1 flows better thana 5.3 you might be mistaking a LQ4 or 9 intake... but the 5.3 is a negative ghost rider

ls1 intake MAY out flow a 5.3, lq4, lq9 intake up top but not down low...
