5.3 heads question and opinion...
my buddie is selling his 5.3 heads that are allready ported for 800 bucks. His TA ran a 11.1 with the cam and a stall. What do you guys think, should I buy them? Some of my buddies are saying no. But I dont know with them being ported allready and they flow real well, does not sound like a bad deal.
What you guys think?

11.1 is strong especially for 5.3 heads. Any idea what the car weighed or a dyno sheet?

That's Kinda what I did this last fall. I bought a set of Patriot Stage 2.5 5.3L Heads. The car I got mine from ran 9.90's with a cam and N20. I didn't know he had ran N20, but the Speed Shop I bought them at had completely refurbished them replaced the valves, did the P&P, and also a clean up mill on the faces. It came with dual valve springs and titanium retainers the whole sha-bang. When I thought about it they typically run 1300-1400 dollars new and the P&P/refurbishing they did costs $800 by itself, so I went ahead and bought them. they only charged me for the labor ($800).
Just food for thought.

Do they come with Springs and Valves? Are the seals good (how many miles on them)?
I bought my Ported and Milled 5.3 Heads for $300, but they didn't have Springs or Valves.2000 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 M6: 427ci LS3, Built T56, Moser 9" w/ 4.11 Gearing, Full Suspension, and 6-point Cage.

I would buy them. See if you cant talk him down a tad maybe for the heck of it. If you brought him 700 cash money, I bet he takes it.
This assuming, the valves are good, springs are new-ish (I would always replace, unless I could trust the guy), retainers are there, and they are in good shape. Replace the seals anyway, its cheap insurance.

Hell yea buy them if thier not cracked. Almost all of the cost in heads is getting them to flow.
