    5.3 or 6.0 build advice

    Hey everybody, ive got a 4x4 99.5 silverado im building for occasional off road and fast too. Ive did alot of work on vehicles and enjoy it but building a motor is something ive never done but ive wanted to and nows my chance, my goal is to be around 450-500hp, I can buy a 5.3 under $1000 but im wondering if id have alot more in it than a 6.0 to reach my hp goal and things i need to do to get there, ive looked into diy turbo setups too (the fab parts isnt a problem) so im curious on opinions to that route too.

    Go for 6.0 liter block.

    Much more potential.

    Plus if later you can bore out make 403 or 408. Can use LS3 heads.

    <<<<as a 6.0L block that is a 403ci.

    Here in IL the 5.3l are plentiful compared to the 6L. Both will take a ton of boost with very minimal aftermarket parts. Many of the guys build the 5.3l or even 4.8l around here because if it blows they can have another one the next day. It's really about how much you want to spend and how fast you want to go.

    2002 Black WS6 A4.
    H/C, LT headers, full exhaust, CAI, Fast 90/90. MWC Fab 9". Subframe connectors,
    Lower Control Arms, Panhard bar, Torque arm Strano Springs & Sway Bars.
    Koni Yellows. FLT Stage IV trans w/ SS3600
    ASC# 4619 Conversion date was Dec 3, 2001
