    1998 Z-28 A4

    243 Stock VS Ported 5.3

    Is there a big difference. I have a 98 z-28 a4. I want to do a head and cam swap. I dont want to spend a ton of money on it though. Which head and cam will be the best. I want a cam that runs good on hp but really wakes the car up on nos. Which head will i beneifit from the most. I was thinking the 5.3 because they where ported already. I could be wrong so thats why I am asking? Any info would be helpful thanks guys.

    what price are you paying for the 5.3 heads? are they milled and do they have the bigger valves in them already?

    thats a good price for the patriot heads

    I'm not exactly sure Mark but I will find out. I want a head and cam that will also swap over to a 406 or 408 when i get ready to build my bottom end over. That way I want have to spend money twice.

    heads will swap right over, the problem you'll have is the cam.....a cm that will be streetable and make power in the 346 will be small in the 408, and if you get the cam you want for the 408 and drop it in the 346 you won't have a very streetable motor.....id get a nice cam for the 346m then when you do the 408 plan a new cam in your budget, maybe shop around for a good used cam to save a few bucks

    That's what I was thinking, I rather buy another cam then both heads and cam.

    my friend Bill has a 98 TA running 10's with the 5.3 heads, so yes with alittle work they can flow great
