Thanks guys. The last owner put a lot of work into it to get it to look like this. I have spent a lot of money making it fast. With the 350 it ran a best time of 11.56 @ 116mph and a 60' time of 1.68. I am hoping to knock a second off the et with the ls1 and drop some time off my 60'.

    kind of off subject.
what for rear are you running, the stock IRS? honestly the factory Datsun IRS looked beefier than what's under my goat.

Yep. I am running th r-200 3.70 gear with a quaife dif. I had a 3.90 with the 350 untill the pinion nut came loose. I put in a 3.70 because I was starting to float the valves at the end of the track. The 3.70 really slowed it down. The ls1 (383ci) will have a lot more torque. This gear should work out unless the extra power has me turning to many rpms at the end of the track again.

if i were you i would not ever go with a off the shelf cam call up like comp cams and have them spec, out you cam for your datsun and then you can daily driver it to and from the track or if its your drag only car they can spec out your cam and then you won't have to change out your Valve springs every 20k miles like that cam they were going to pick out for you .

The cam is already in the motor and the motor is already in the car.

I don't see a problem with the grind... For the naysayers here be specific, what is this issue that you see?

It should do what you want and then some.
