    228r cam 5.3 stage 2.5 heads

Im looking to getting a head and cam package from texas speed and right now im looking at getting a 228r cam 114LSA with the PRC 5.3 stage 2.5 heads. what kind of power gains am i looking at? Also what would be the difference with going with the ls6 heads and maybe a 112 LSA instead.

Right now all i have on the 2004 Goat is:
    JBA shorty headers
    JBA high flow catted mid-pipes
    flowmaster cat-back
    K&N cia

I also plan on getting the ls6 intake manifold and ls2 tb

    Thumbs up Great Package

Hey i dont have a goat, but i ordered the 5.3 heads from them, simply due to the flow numbers. I also got the MS3 cam 237/242 /.603/.609 on a 112. Its nasty.. I also looked at the LS6 heads, but for the price and flow numbers, i went with 5.3.. Call Jon and talk to him.. they have great customer service, and very knowledgeable.I also had them mail order tune my CPU till i could get to the dyno.

In short, you are going to see a substantial power gain from that combo. Check with TSP on the PTV clearance with that cam and perhaps you can mill the heads a bit.

I recently installed the Stage 2.5 5.3L heads (milled to 60cc) along with a ported FAST 92 intake and netted +45 rwhp and +20 rwtq. Unfortunately, since both were installed at the same time, it's tough to say exactly where the gains came from, however given that my setup is geared for power down low (rather than at 6,500 rpm), I imagine the bulk of the gains came from the heads. The torque curve is absolutely sick.....at 2,700 rpm I'm already over 350 tq and then it climbs gently over 400.

    Hope So

I would say prob.. from the heads. I hear that the FAST flows alot of air, but not much more than the LS6 which all of the 02's had anyway.. Did you do your CAM as well or just the heads...KD

incorrect info from whoever told you that...

it flows substainally more air than the Ls6 intake. when i swapped from my Ls6 intake and stock TB, to a FAST 90/90 i gained 35rwhp/16rwtq (old #'s were 409/386)...

im running ls6 stage II heads and a little 224 cam, and it made that much of a difference...

i enjoy laying down more power than people running larger cams and 5.3 heads...

Stage 3 are pretty radical they have huge valves and big ports... you can run them but if i am not mistaken aren't they really made for a stroker kits?
