Don't discount the LS6 setup if you use the whole thing...

I tuned an f-bod with z06 H/C that he got with everything to do the swap for UNDER a GRAND. He added headers & ORY and a used fast 90/90 that he got together for $1000 and the car made 407rwhp and 393tq! It sounds and drives like OEM. Those are excellent budget results. If he had the heads milled a shade while off, it would have done a touch more too.

Some more details please. Your friend is way off on that claim. Are you getting the cam for free? OR are you considering buying the cam? What everyone is getting at is taht if you are going to spend the time and effort it takes to do a cam swap, then you better do it right the first time and put a cam in there that will make a noticeable difference! I went with a TR224 cam and I am more than happy with it, it fits my driving needs perfectly. Could I have went more aggressive sure but I have no regrets, nice flat torque curve and good power all throughout my powerband. If you're gonna go through the effort of a cam swap spend some $$$ and go with a bigger cam than that!

I thought about milling them but wasn't sure about running 93 octane with a higher compression ratio......the car is a daily driver

i figured i know this is kind of a newbie question but does a lot have to be changed as far as pushrod lengths and other things when you mill heads. basically what is everything that has to be done? Is it just math i'll have to do or what?

your not taking that much off the heads when you mill them so you should be fine with stock rods...id still check to be sure. most of the time a new cam needs different lenght pushrods though

when you bolt your rockers back on, you want to go to 0 lash, then another 1/2-3/4 turn to tighten the rock bolts. less than that to tighten them you need longer push rods more than that you need shorter push rods.
I know stock on stock some of my rods were a hair too long, I had over a whole turn after 0 lash on a few and over 3/4 turn on the rest

Yeah i've got hardened pushrods with my cam now and they're stock length so the cam didn't really change anything. Thanks for the info
