    04 Cobra cams

    1st I know I'm posting about a Ford lol.
one of my friends has an 04 Cobra with the 4.6 overhead 4 cam motor. does any know or tried to reindex the stock intake and exhaust cams to effectively change the lsa? and is there any power to be gained by doing this and basically narrowing the lsa with the stock duration with adjustable cam gears?

Id be very careful when it comes to messing around with cam timing on a 4.6L motor, they are interference motors and things could get messy very quickly if not done correctly.

granted you have to know what your doing, and it wouldn't make a huge difference, but if you could tweak couple hp & tq number out of here and there with what you already have it might be worth it

Adjusting the stock cams is about the most pointless thing you could do on that car. It would be like porting the stock manifolds - a whole lot of work for nothing. Even aftermarket cams are basically a complete waste of money and time, unless he's got a turbo or aftermarket blower. And even then the gains are very minimal. It will NOT respond like an OHV engine.

It's a supercharged Cobra. Leave the engine alone and focus on intake, exhaust, fuel, and boost.

Wow. GOing from a terminator to a epic fail. That motor boosted can make serious horsepower. If hes looking to make a few hp by cam timing he seriously lacks knowledge about how much power he could be making with the boosted setup.

Never thought I would post a buddies t shirt I took a pic of but i thought of it when i read this post. buy this t shirt for your friend

he started on the project last year, redoing the motor, suspension, and body, was talking about doing a full forged bottom end and going with a Kenny Bell sc.
lost his good paying job several moths ago and I think he just doesn't have the money to put back into it he orginaly planed......but now I have a Vortech super charger sitting on the shelf in my garage that will cost be around $600 to rebuild with the better parts and use on my goat some day

^^^^Forged crank. Those bottom ends can reliably support 800 hp or more. It takes serious hp to run this fast....... http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/sh....php?p=3093839

I thought those motors were built to go alot farther then what they are putting down factory wise. But I didnt realize that those motors were that well built from the factory wish gm would have done that from the factory.
