Any problems so far?

The right headlight started acting up, then the left. I found out the cover to the gear housing had come un-epoxied. Before I bought the car, the brass headlight gears were installed, but it was not the Rodney Dickman kit, so consequently, the epoxied covers came off, so, temporarily, I tie wrapped the covers back on, then here recently, I purchased the Rodney Dickman kit and permanently fixed the drivers side. The passenger side is still holding up.
I also have been having horrendous noises coming from the rearend. It's a Midwest Chassis 9". I'm ready to have the oil changed and when I do, I am going to get the rear fluid changed as well.
I don't know the maintenance service that was performed before I bought the car, but most likely not very good. When I get on it hard, I can smell burning oil. Rings or valve guides. Either way looking at a rebuild.
How bout you? Any major work done?

I'm surprised you haven't had any problems with rearend whining! or headlight actuator motor problems. If you haven't, consider yourself blessed!!!

Dont use my headlights much. Plus i think people may work the rear end too hard, not saying you did or do. Just my thoughts.

I am guilty. I drive it like it was meant to be driven. Nothing wrong with babying them, but every now and then, the temptation to drive her hard is just overwhelming, regardless of how many miles she has on her!! I know mine has been driven hard before I got her. On cold starts, there's blue smoke. Rings or valve guides, but figured using Mobil 1 synthetic would extend the life just a little. I think if proper service and maintenance is performed, these cars can be driven relatively hard with no adverse effects, however, you can't go for 15 and 20 thousand miles between oil changes and expect long life.
