    Polished My Corsa Cat-Back

Well polishing my Corsa Cat Back has been on the list of MUST DOs for a few years but I would always find a reaon to put it off (because I KNEW it would be a PIA!!!) The with the install of my full polished (by hand...MY HAND) LLP headers and y-pipe it became even more apparent it had to be done. SOOO I finally bit the bullet last week and got started on it...and all I can say is I am kicking my ass for putting it off this long!!! It wasnt nearly as bad as I had thought it would be and it looks INCREDIBLE!!! The pictures dont do it any justice...the light and dark spots are just there from the pics!!!

I am tellimg you, the more and more I use this stuff the more I am impressed with it!

We attended our first show of 2010 this weekend...the Frosty Wheels Car Show this weekend in Nashville, TN. It was VERY appropriately named as the temps flirted with single digits and it snowed pretty the entire time (it was a 3 day show and we had to set up the day before!!!) I got to show off a few new touches on the car and we received a perfect score from the judges!

    Here are few pics...

This was Thursday when we were getting ready to head out:

Thanks man, how much did the entire Nitrous kit cost or just the bottle bracket? I am not sure what the kit costs....I got a pretty sweet deal on it just before my HPP photoshoot. The company wanted it in the mag (free advertisment!) But the bracket was like $100 for the billet bottle mount and $70 for the piece that mounts to the hump. I covered the bottom piece with leather and hand polished the billet piece.

Cool we will have to take some pics together as soon as we can. I dont have anything around there for a while though...this weekend we will have it in Nashville for the Auto Fest and then in a couple weeks the World of Wheels in ATL and the two weeks after that the World Of Wheels in Birmingham. After that the show season will really be starting to pick up so there is no telling where we will be...the big shows this year we plan to attend are the Ban One Show, The POCI Convention, The Hot Rod Power Tour, F-Bodies in Myrtle Beach, Pontiacs in Pigeon Forge, Turkey Rod Run in Daytona and the Wide Track Warriors Show in Orlando.

Its actually a nitro powered RC car I built. You can get the bodies on Ebay and then build the rest from a kit. I have another one exactly like it thats battery powered I would be willing to sell if anybody is interested...PM me.

Well since I had some time to kill and I had been working on our white LT1 WS6 all weekend I decided to show the SOM car a little attention and finish polishing the intermediate pipe (its welded to the Y-pipe so I couldn't take it off with the rest of the cat back to polish a few weeks ago.) After doing that it made the drive shaft look like CRAP (even more so than now!) and I figured since I had the car up what the hell I would drop the DS and polish it to (it doesn't matter to me if anyone else ever sees it...I will know its done!) This is actually something I have been wanting to do since BillyB posted pics of his a while back!

First thing is you have to remove the drive shaft....I used jack stands at the rear of the car and slid under and removed the four 11mm bolts holding the universal joint caps on. The universal joints were a little stuck to the rear yoke so I used a small pry bar and pushed the shaft forward freeing the rear universal from the rear yoke. The drop the shaft down and slide it out of the rear of the transmission. That's all there is to getting the DS out.

This is what you wind up with, a dirty aluminum drive shaft. Mine was particularly dirty because my car had factory undercoating so it was all over it. I had tried to clean it a few years back while on the car but that didn't do much.

The next thing I did was take a die grinder with a ball of scotchbrite pad looking stuff and scuff and clean the shaft up really good. This makes the hand sanding go much smoother!

The next step is hand sanding. I went 320,600,800,1000,1500,2000,"fine" sponge wet, "super fine" sponge wet, "ultra fine" sponge wet and finally 2000 wet.

Next was polishing. I have found Bling Master to be the BEST polish for this sort of thing...PERIOD I started with Bling Master Green Stuff and a polishing ball on the die grinder, then went with Bling Master Illuminator with a polishing bonnet on the die grinder, the Illuminator by hand with a microfiber towel, and finally sealed it with Bling Master Barrier. I am very please with the results...AS ALWAYS!

Then of course it just goes back in the reverse of how it came out.

We aren't going to make the WOW in ATL, I wanted to but its a four day commitment and I just dont have the time to do it and still take the week off for the Hot Rod Power Tour in June. We probably will do the WOW in Birmingham in a couple weeks though (its a lot closer now that I am in AL.) Send me an email to ramsst1997@hotmail.com and I will give the details on the RC car!

Also you need to make plans to attend the Ban One show in ATL on May 15th, its a great show:

I usually try to wait for installed pictures before showing off new parts but I had to share these!!! We went and picked them up at S&H Chrome in Nashville yesterday....they do the best work I have ever seen!!! I am very impressed and being they knew I was in a hurry for a show coming up their turnaround time was just 10 days!

BTW before its said stock LS1 calipers fit my needs PERFECTLY...had I wanted to upgrade trust me I would have.

    Front Calipers

    Rear Calipers

I was tired of polishing these pieces:

And we had to show the white car some love too:

Just when I think that car is awesome you go and do MORE stuff to it. You have set the bar so high that no one could even think about being on your level. Awesome job man!! Can't wait to see them installed

Thanks man!!! We got the calipers reassembled and on and bleed this weekend! I just have to finish doing some cleaning in there and get the tires back on. Here they are installed:

I can't wait to get mu chrome K-member and upper and lower A-Arms on.

What do you guys thing of the "etched" Trans Am logos on them? They are very subtle and you can't seem them unless you look at them. I have some orange chrome logos too but I think these have the exact look I was going for with them:

(I know I still need to clean the back side of the pads...)
