    New "brand new" Daily Driver!

2010 Jetta TDI, 6 spd Auto DSG, 140HP 236 lb ft TQ

Let me tell you, this thing is quicker than you think, still breaking it in so I can't give er' all she's got.

Bluetooth connection for my phone, can make calls from the buttons on the steering wheel. Touch screen radio, heated mirrors/ seats, iPod adapter, 6 CD changer in dash, Aux imput, SD card reader, the list goes on and on

Ave 43 mpg so far mix of highway and city, mostly city

    Not bad for $24,900

I'd drive one long before I'd drive a Prius. They're good cars but I've heard the DSG trannsmissions are problematic. Something you might want to keep in mind if you'll be keeping it beyond its' warranty.

I haven't read much at all about the DSG being problematic, might have been the earlier models you're thinking of, I believe they've been using it since 05 maybe?

Yeah. They do move. I have driven the few I have serviced and when that boost kicks in, watch out. The turbo has VERY little lag.

A buddy of mine got one recently and it's pretty nice. Unless you have to sit in the back. The roof is where my shoulders should be. Beating on a new engine helps with ring seal

Was it all highway on the trip, and if so, at what speed did you attain those mileage figures?

    good point! BUT,

those numbers were achieved at an average of 65-70 mph, including erratic driving i.d. (hard accels on on ramps and varying the rpms to facilitate proper engine break in)

I'm getting approx 38-40 mpg commuting to work each day too, doing 50 mph up and down a lot of hills

I'm very pleased with the power and fuel economy of this car, its great going 160 miles on like 1/4th of a 14.5 gal tank!

Thanks! Yes, Europe seems to be a "bit" more keen on the benefits of diesel engines regarding cars... Its a shame the US doesn't see it, truly a natural hybrid

You'll see 50 mpg when it's broke in, and your driving habbits have settled with this car.
