    1999 Firebird w/LS1 swap

Talking '99 Firebird (lots of pix)

Car was pretty much stock at the time of purchase (previous owner[s] had installed the alarm system, the custom leather interior, the 16" chrome twisted 5-spoke wheels, and plastered Jesus stickers all over the exterior).

Plans are to swap in an LS or LQ engine as soon as I can secure a job again. In the mean-time I'm taking care of things like appearance, comfort, and suspension.

    • 1999 Pontiac Firebird 3.8L A4
    • 134kish miles - bought with 85k.

    Factory options:
    • Y87 Performance Package
    • Pewter metallic paint
    • Hardtop
    • Gray cloth interior
    • Base-level four speaker stereo
    • Power windows/locks/mirrors/antenna

    Owner add-ons/modifications:

    • Alarm system w/remote
    • Custom shade of gray leather interior w/matching door panel inserts
    • Radar detector w/concealed wires
    • Webcam w/concealed wires (mounted next to the mirror, like a police car)
    • Rebuilt OEM headunit using an '01 headunit for good parts.
    • iPod2car interface installed - lets me play and control my iPod using the OEM headunit controls
    • 32GB iPod Mini 1G (even modded the iPod )
    • Matching leather OEM steering wheel w/radio controls (car did not come with steering wheel radio controls)
    • Replaced door speakers with decent Clarions.
    • Power inverter under passenger seat
    • Cigarrete lighter plug-in inside glovebox
    • Removed rear seats/rear seatbelts
    • Sound deadening using Frost King 1/8" foam w/thin metal backing
    • Thermal insulation using Reflectix layered over Frost King

    • Tint (35% sides, 15% rear 3M CS)
    • Trans Am hatch with perfectly matching factory paint (didn't have to paint it!)
    • Locking gas cap
    • Spent two hours aligning the factory hood and headlights to near-perfection
    • Rebuilt front daytime running lights
    • Replaced fog lights with Pilot driving lights w/halos (fully wired up)
    • LEDs in stock side markers dim the light output and slightly change the color (looks cool at night)
    • Aftermarket power antenna (chrome!)
    • Removed Firebird logo/lettering paint on rear, but left the raised plastic
    • 6LE dual exhaust tips (like CME, but split... still need to be tucked higher and further in but for a $20 install job it's not bad)
    • Chrome lugnuts (I had to count this since it actually made a visual difference... lol)
    • 16" chrome twisted 5-spoke Formula/TA wheels on 245/50/16 Riken Raptors - DD wheels
    • 17" chrome Firehawk wheels on 275/40/17 Nitto 555 front, Nitto 555R rear - show/meet/cruise wheels

    • Real V6 Whisper Lid
    • '01 WS6 factory muffler
    • K&N air and oil filters
    • Aluminum driveshaft
    • AC Delco Rapidfire plugs
    • 85-140w differential fluid w/50% Lucas stabilizer
    • Replaced fuel pump assembly with newer low-mile unit and made a fuel pump access panel in hatch area.

    • Autocross front alignment settings
    • KYB AGX front shocks @ 4
    • Edelbrock IAS front coilovers (waiting to be installed)
    • Bilstein HD rear shocks
    • LT1 rear springs - hose mod on drivers side, LT1 isolator on passenger side
    • OEM WS6/SS swaybars - 32mm front, 19mm rear
    • Polyurethane swaybar bushings and endlinks
    • UMI tubular panhard bar - poly bushings
    • Drilled and slotted rotors from with Duralast Ceramic pads
    • UMI 3pt tubular mild steel weld-in subframe connectors (in original packaging waiting to be installed)

    And without further ado, pix:

    1999 Firebird w/LS1 swap

Thanks, the wheels are Firehawk wheels and I picked 'em up for $400 with tires. Have since replaced the tires.

Ordered an Edelbrock coilover setup for the front, so that should let me lower the front to whatever height looks best.
