    Cool 2002 Z28 Som

I bought my Z28 last March and love it. The SOM is a real head turner -- lots of positive feedback. Have done some minor mods: SLP lid, K&n filter, Magnaflowmuffler, tower strut brace, billet grill.

My performance mods will remain modest at the moment. Main purpose of this Z28 is showin' and crusin' not draggin'. I won best top 25 at a Year One Bash in Braselton Georgia. My Z28 also serves as daily driver (10-12 K /year). Having said that, I did swap out stock muffler for a Magnaflow that sounds (and hopefully runs) a lot better. The Edelbrock tower strut brace is a three-point set up and I am sure I must be more rigid in turns. The billet grill in polished aluminium looks great and according to my mechanic allows for a little better air flow than that hunk of stock black plactic.

I have done some appearance mods as well: polished stainless steel letters for rear deck; mirror covers; rebuilt seats to included increased foam padding and lateral support (great improvement over standard crappy seats in my view); real rosewood dash kit; Z28 front carpets in very dark grey with red lettering; painted calipers gloss red; rear mud guards with Z28. That's about it.

In town, I get 19-22 MPG and on road trips I get 24-30 (once!!!). I have a A-4, 2.73 gearing so it is a highway cruiser set up for sure. I have not run it so have no ET's and such. Have no idea what flywheel or rear wheel HP numbers are either.

Nice chatting with you guys, especially SOM dudes.

SORRY 'BOUT THAT. BTW, years ago I used to live on E. Exposition Ave. near the AFB just inside Denver city limit. Small world.
