What is a good muffler to deepen the tone on the 3800? I know some high flow exhaust will make some 6's sound horrible, we are just looking for a deeper rumble and not raspy like the factory can. I'll prob hit youtube and see what I can hear too.

Ive only ever found one on youtube that sounds decent....its silver i think.....

it you wanna get rid of the rasp for the most part, you need a cam, and full exhaust.

it really depends on what you want. There is no exhast setup out there that will completely get rid of the rasp. Ive had a couple diffrent setups on mine, and both get raspy up top.

here is my current setup (with the abbott n/a cam, pacesetters, and a custom 3" exhust using a magna flow muffler)

this is my old setup with the gt2 cam, and texas speed rumbler catback.

and btw spikito, there are numerous cams avaiable.

There are even full forged internals and stroker sets ..

TO the op. I use the 2001 z28 muffler on mine. Not too loud, not too quiet when I'm on it. I'm thinking of trying dual mufflers in the future. Or just maybe 2 resonaters and strait out..

Yep, after listening to several on youtube, I agree. The flowmaster 40 sounds good at idle as does your setup, sounds REALLY good at idle but all of them even with the resonators have the "tuner" sound at WOT. I know the V6 will never sound like a V8, just thought there might be a setup that would take away the raspy/rattly sound. Thanks guys!

BTW Freak, those snowflakes look really good painted black

Thanks, just a note, but i thought of this afterwards. There a a few people that have went with a true dual setup, and it seems it calms down the rasp the best. Even more so if you were to pick up the FFF longtube headers as well. Its an expensive setup, but a damn good sound.

On my roommates 02 v6 firebird, put SLP cold air induction, pacesetter headers and a dynomax super turbo muffler.....throaty for a v6, doesn't have the ricey sound at WOT and was relatively inexpensive. Biggest expense was labor to put headers on since I don't have the space to do it myself.
