I'm looking at a 97 v6 project
okay I can get a 97 v6 firebird for $500 I'm going to look at it sunday.

I need opinions, should I build the 3.8 or should I put in a carb'd motor?
I figure both will end up costing around the same.

Build a 3500 hybrid.. 60*v6 far better engine.. Or build up the 3800 and put a blower on it..

It's not going to be easy that's for sure. You may have to mod the fire wall/ cowl to get a U bend in for the TB to even fit. The bigger prob you're going to have is if you stay with stock internals. Weakest link in the whole set up.. Lots can be done with them tho and the after market is there for them. One of the biggest issues I have with the 90* 3800 is balancing.. They have an balance shaft to keep the motor from eating it self, not to mention a goof ass oil pump setup.. A 60* 3.4, 3500 heads, and a cam, and some headers can get you 300hp. Factory forged rods, in them have no trouble hitting 7500 rpm all day..
