    500hp v6 project

    The car it's in...

    http://s158.photobucket.com/albums/t.../looks%20good/

The first turbo that would eat SBC V8's (pre LSx)...

    Page 1

    Page 2
And the new motor is a 3.4l from a 1995 Camaro with heads from a 2004 3.5l Malibu with pushrods and guides from a '95 3100 (modified), soon to have 1.7 roller tip rockers (came with 1.6 roller fulcrum's from the factory), LS6 beehive valve springs, and possably a 75mm single bore Cadillac N* TB (maybe a custom 65mm depending on VE)...

    Page2

    Page 3

I'm expecting 250+hp from it N/A with 11:1 compression, and over 500hp once the boost is back on (then it will have 3400 pistons for 8.9:1CR).

With Ford 1.7 ratio rockers, it will be near .500 lift with a mild 260 cam in it. If I decide to go with a 270, it will be near .550. It will be capable of rotating in excess of 7000RPM, and will be using DIS4 and MegaSquirt for tuning.

The 3500 is capable of over 300fwhp, proven on a dyno by members of another board. With 100cc's less, I believe my goals are attainable.

This engine is being built from all GM stock parts with the exception of the Ford rockers. I'm only using the Ford rockers because they were $59/set of 16 for 4340 forged CNC'd "stamped style" rockers. The fulcrum to valve distance was increased by GM on the latter 60*V6 engines because of the canted valves.

Here are some comparison pics between the 2.8/3.1/3.4 iron heads, 3400 aluminum heads (post 2000), and the 3500 heads introduced in 2004...

Tim King has gone 8.99 in a 4th gen Firebird 3800 and dyno'd over 800hp.

My car is staying full street trim, and 10 seconds is my goal.

I was going to do an LSx swap, but decided to see what can be done with a V6. I have done fun v8 swaps in the past. The best was an 86 Mustang LX with a 355SBC mated to a th400 that ran 11.8x with the motor and 10.8x on the NOS. It had the stock 8.5" rear, and was painted Chevy Orange. That was probably 10yrs ago now, and I was looking for a project car and couldn't pass up the deal I got. It's not like we needed a 5th vehicle, but now I'm hooked on the 60* motor.

Amazing what a little cleaning can do...

Mirror polished intake runners (308cc volume, 11.75" long)...

    Now the head before porting...

Chambers are heart shaped at 32.4cc's, intake ports are 114.4cc's, and 68cc exhaust ports. With 8mm dished pistons and .060" compressed height head gaskets with a 3.8" bore this would give me 11.5:1 compression so the chambers are getting enlarged and polished to eliminate hot spots. There is already a 5 angle valve job and enough clearance for over 3/4" lift at the valves, but these springs will get me well over .5" (anybody recognise these,lol)...

    (3400 heads I got used)

Oh yeah, the Ford rockers aren't going to work because of pushrod lenght and LIM clearance issues. Using 1.65 roller fulcrum self-aligning rockers (come stock in late 3x00's), they're on the left...

    Got some new go-fast goodies

38mm Tial external WG to replace the knock-off I had, and an Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump and filter that came off a 9sec GN. The pump is good for 1000hp N/A and 800hp under boost.

The 1.7 rockers that were going to be used are from a Ford SB, but the pushrod would have to be too long, and there is clearance problems with the LIM. The stock 3500 roller fulcrum rockers are staying on.

If you have 3x00 heads, the Crane Gold 1.6 full rollers will work, but again, the LIM needs clearancing on some motors. I don't see a need to spend that kind of money just to add a roller tip.

N/A should be a go for the southern V6 Clash in Louisiana. With 11.5:1 compression 250-300hp should be a reasonable goal.

Just started shopping for a turbo to go with the other supporting parts I have . The biggest problem for now is that I have a completely stock suspension and rear (3.23 open). Once I get this thing running, I'll be asking for some help in the suspension category .

I'm just outside Ft Lauderdale and the CNC/fab shop is in Deerfield. Our skills are not limited to V6's (if we can make a 500hp V6, imagine what we could do to an LSx) and if you want to check us out, just PM me.

Block has been stripped, glass-beaded, pressure washed, then painted , but have an unexpected expense of cam bearings (we'll change them at the shop)...
