Pewter- 1999 Camaro SS-M6 #1775
I honestly think it would be much more worth it to by an LS1 Camaro or Firebird
JMO1999 Camaro SS/ Pewter/ #1775 - LS1 6-speed - Predator 3 Custom Tune - Pro 5.0 - LS7 Clutch - 3.90's - Koni's - Strano Springs and Sway Bars - SFC's - Full UMI Chassis and Suspension - LS6 Intake PnP TB - ARH LT's and Kitty Ran Away - Magnaflow.

Yea, if your asking the question it's way to hard for you to do. just go trade in on a z28 or SS. everything is upgraded.

I had a 98 V6, dude, youll hear it over and over "Just buy a Z28 or TA" You can get a good deal if ya look. Im glad I did, that way I could upgrade stuff ONCE.

did you v6 come equipped with a posi read end, a streel drive shaft upgraded sound system, better interior, upgraded z28 springs/shoks/struts/swaybars? if so then it might be worth it to just do the swap, but if not you'll get a way better car just buying it from the factory than trying to improve all of that yourself.

Hell go with an LT1 for cheap and buy a 383 stroker kit on ebay for pretty cheap too...

red- 2001 v6 camaro
just a short list
ls1
tranny
wiring harness
drive shaft
rear
k member
steering rack (if ur car doesnt have the y87 performance package)
guage cluster
pcm
prolly more
as for difficulty. their is not any fab work involved just a lot of pulling apart and putting back together. it can be done, but a lot of time and effort.Last edited by FreakV6; 06-24-2008 at 11:46 AM.

I'm guessign you're reffering to the SS when you say LS1? Yes it does but her is talking about just putting in a LS1 not making a SS clone. and the look of the car is matter of opinion.

Autobahn Tested to 180MPH- 1998 WS6 STS Turbo
Good Question and i will be able to tell you in two weeks !
Friend has a 2000 V6 Camaro and he found a roll over 2000 Z28 for peanuts. So he bought it and we are starting next weekend.
We have two cars 1 broken z28 and one good Camaro with all the parts, just Body damage maybe Steering bent ! Rear axles dont seam to be bent. Both turn good no wobble....
Wait 2 weeks and i will post everything we do, and if i dont forget with Pictures too !!
Wish us luck !

Pewter- 2000 Camaro
Here is a "short" list of what is involved in the swap...(been there)
1. LS1 Engine (that includes all front belt accessories)
2. LS1 radiator and a/c condensor
3. Coolant hoses and a/c hoses
4. LS1 k-member
5. Ls1 tranny and converter (Or if you don't want a whole new one and you have the 4L60E you can buy an Ls1 bellhousing, v8 input shaft, and converter)
6. Exhaust manifolds and ypipe (preferably LTs and off road y pipe while you are buying new exhaust)
7. front shocks because you will be bottoming out all the time if you don't
8. if you're v6 came with a electronically driven accelerator pedal you will have to get/fab a mechanical throttle system and buy new pedals.
9. complete fuel pump assembly (tank, lines, etc) because it is different on LS1
10. Engine wiring harness and ECM
11. LS1 gauge cluster because it reads different
12. and possibly new steering rack for oil pan clearance issues
13. Depending on what year model engine and what year car you have there you will have to get a shit load more wiring for the dash, relays, etc.
Trust me not worth it....I found a pretty good deal on all of this and still wasn't worth it....very time consuming and for all the new parts you have to buy it ends up being around the same ball park number as a used ss or z28
