    it's a STB (strut-tower-brace) or strut-bar

    What it does:
    looks nicer
allows to lean on it while working on engine bay
stiffens somewhat the front, like SFCs would stiffen the body.

    what it doesn't do:
improve handling (makes no diff whatsoever)

don't tell my wife that. i put hers on, when we first bought it. then, i took it off to get it painted. while it was off, i went to turn left from a stop light. she asked me if i removed that bar thingy. i said yes. she said she could tell.

it's used to strengthen the shock tower area where the shocks and upper control arm mount. to try and limit the movement of that sheet metal area of the car.

it's one of those 50/50 things. some say they can tell, some say they can't. i couldn't tell but she could. go figure.

they look cool, and i didnt think aout leaning on it. that would be REALLY convenient... as far as body structure, that makes it even cooler. how much do they run for?

as i said... it stiffens the front a bit like a SFC would stiffen the body, yet does nothing for handling whatsoever.

Usually anywhere from $100-150 Depends on who you go with. The also make adjustable ones.

why doesn't it? less movement, to me, makes for a more stable car. so, more aggressive driving into the corners could be achieved.

the movement is controlled by the springs and shocks... not the STB.
A car w/ a cage will be stiffer and stronger, yet it doesn't improve your handling.

All you need is a 5/8" combination wrench. Really easy install, remove 4 nuts, install 4 washers, place STB over studs, install 4 nuts.
