Sway Bar!
How many of you guys (and gals) are running your car on the street without a front sway bar? I removed mine while installing Konis up front as we are heading to the track this weekend. I drove it around 30 miles today and in all honesty it was tough to tell that it was missing. I really though the front end would feel looser and that I would have more body lean in corners than I did. Not sure how much of this to attribute to the Konis, but I am thinking that it really doesn't need to go back on the car.

Whatever works. Back in the day we would take the front bar off our drag cars to help move the weight transfer to the rear for traction. I don't really know why it worked but it did.

I had it off when I did my alternator, I also didn't feel a difference.
I just had one experience where I think it would've been effective: I took the car to about 135mph and it felt so unstable up front, the front end started to feel like it was swinging left and right. Now I don't know if that was due to the sway bar being off or if it was the road, I have yet to take the car back to that road with the sway bar on and see if it feels the same but I eventually will.

Ok Jeff, take the car out, do 135+ and see if you get any sway. Inquiring minds want to know.

We'll be around 106 to 108 mph at the track this weekend if all goes well. I can take a speed run on the Interstate pretty easily as we have times with almost no traffic. Just have to keep an eye out for furry critters.

Whatever you do, dont let Dawn drive it then...
Boost gets you laid, unless your name is Jon.

No kidding. She drove the Regal home from Zach's last night and I was just waiting for the sound of screaming rubber on asphalt.

You won't notice it on the top end at the track other than your front rising quicker at the start its ok in a straight line.
Just don't go playing road racer on the switch backs, remember what your cars built for and there won't be probs.
Between my drag springs/shocks and swaybar delete I need to be more mindful on the Freeway ramps

Thanks for the replies. We'll drive a bit after this weekend and determine whether it goes back on or stays in the garage.

Jeff, get a rear drag bar and it will feel much better on the street.

I talked to Ryan at UMI about a drag bar last year and we decided that until I have more power under the hood it probably wasn't necessary. You know, the kind of power it takes to twist a transmission pump into little shards of metal.

Haha it was a weak pump. And now thanks to Bill for having a 4600 converter for sale I will be trying to break more parts at the track. And I thought I was done buying parts for the car.
