starting my handling package, adj or non adj?

    Hey guys,

I'll be getting alot of susp. done to the car in the spring, so i want to make sure im getting the right stuff. I'm gonna start off first with lower control arms, ill probably go with umi. I also plan to get a panhard bar as well. Here's the thing, im going to lower the car, and use strano springs, and pair them with bilstein hd shocks. Will I need to get the adjustable version of the phb and lca's? I know ill have to get relocation brackets. I've heard some people say they didnt have centering issues, but my luck, i'd lower the car and it'd be off. What do you guys think?

Bare minimum you need the Adj. Panhard bar (because even on stock height cars the rear isn't centered correctly) the Adj. LCA are optional IMO

yeah defiantly the adj panhard, i had non-adj panhard and i sold it to get a adjustable one because like 9T8 said the rear isnt centered even on stock height, and if you ever plan to lower the car you'll be looking to go for an adjustable one anyways

lca's shouldn't matter unless you do lca relocation brackets and they cause the rear to shift back in the wheel well or you switch to an aftermarket rear

btw slp bilsteins will go better with the stranos, plus i think they're cheaper right now

slp bilsteins are made for slp springs, hd's are made for strano springs.

Ahh, first part is right, second part is not. HD's are Bilstein standard production shocks. Both are very, very similar. I sell more SLP's than HD's these days because they are a better value (pricing wise).

I haven't had my "own" Bilstein's in years as the pricing changes and valving changed rendered the value not as good as before and the pricing started coming too close to Koni 4/3 to give you adjustment and a lifetime warranty too.

No you don't need adjustable LCA's (or frankly any LCA's just because you are lowering). You don't need LCA brackets (might want them, but they aren't required). An adjustable PHB is smart.

    I can vouch for this..

I can dead hook on MT 275/17 DR's and run 12'0s wiith high 1.6 60's and no wheel hop on Sam's suspension setup.... Then I kick everyone else on the way back from the track on the backroads.... The QA1 guys can't even see my tailights.......

    EDIT: Stock LCA etc.....

If you are stock power or even boltons and have wheelhop 90% chance it is worn out shocks......

I'd start off with the springs and shocks and panhard bar. if you throw on 15 new parts and then have a clunk, or squeak, or rattle, it's a lot harder to trouble shoot. plus if you do it one piece at a time, you know what your setup needs and what it doesn't. it'll save you some money. install the springs/shocks/phb and if you're having any traction issues/wheel hop still, then look into the lca's and brackets.

ok cool, ive done so much readin on so many different posts i wanted to see for myself. I always heard lca's help with wheel hop, but I also know that shocks will do the same. I've got 91000 on the car, so I know new shocks are on the menu.

LCA's will not cure wheelhop that isn't being caused by LCA's. Shocks won't cure hop that isn't the fault of worn shocks. Wheelhop can stem from many things, not just LCA's, not just shocks, etc.

In fact I've had more than a few folks have "full suspensions" and still have hop because the shocks were junk.

We know the shocks are weak stock. Add 91k to them and consider all the other ways the shocks help, I'd definitely start there.
