    Squeaking from the back

I have had a squeaking sound coming from the back of car once last year. I pulled my car out from storage last weekend and noticed it was still there. I located it coming from underneath the area between the back seats and the hatch. It squeaks when I drive 70mph or faster and when I accelerate quickly. Has anybody ever experienced this and/or having any suggestions on what I could check? It really sucks driving around with it squeaking. Any help would be appreciated.

Inside the car or outside? I had a bad squeak that turned out to be the latches on the fold down seat. It needed a little grease, problem solved.

U-joints can also squeak, more loudly under acceleration especially from a stop.

The hatch seal can also be a noise maker. There is a seal conditioner made by GM, or you can apply spray silicone, and see what happens. I generally apply spray silicone to the rubber seals on all our cars twice per year.

I had this problem until I applied Napa Sil-Glyde to the hatch seal. It worked well. It also worked on my squeaky t top seals

Thanks for the feed back. Well I don't think it is the hatch, although I think I will grease them anyway like many suggested. I took the car on the freeway while my cousin drove a squeezed my head into the hatch area. I pin pointed the noise to be coming from under the car in the center around the axel area. I lowered my car, but didn't put in an adj Torque arm. Think that has anything to do with it?

I'd attribute the panhard bar before the torque arm if you just lowered it.

I have a new UMI adj PHB on there now. What do you think it is doing that would make it squeak? What remedy should I try?

The high speed presence has me puzzled. Air buffeting the hatch seems to make more sense than a suspension component.

The sound is definately coming from underneath the car. It isn't off and on either. It is every time I go over eighty. I am trying to find out where to start looking for a fix.

Are you sure it isn't the exhaust rubbing?

I never checked. That might be it. When I accelerate the exhaust woul come down and when I am at higher speeds it would be closer too. That should have been my first guess. Thanks, ill let you know what I find. I have a LM2 over the axel back. So the exhaust has been enlarged.

Then my guess is it is rubbing. I had the same exact issue. Right where it goes over the axle. You'll see a shiny spot on the exhaust where the metal to metal contact is.

Same problem here. It sounds like you have added some mods and lowered it. I too did the same things. Once I installed everything I realized I did not grease the points on the PHB, LCA's etc... once I greased the points and made sure everything was snug after some driving the highly annoying squeak went away. I also have the LM2 exhaust, but no clearance issues in the back. Just my thoughts and worth a try.

Yeah I did that last year. I was thinking the new parts werent lubed well. I should do it again soon. I can't remember if it went away after I greased it last year. I have t had a chance to check if my exhaust is rubbing yet. I will this weekend, now that the weather is getting better.
