shock question
I wanted Bilstein HD shocks on my 98 z/28 but the fronts are on back order as you all know. I was wondering if Koni single adjustable shocks for the front and the Bilstein HDs on the rear would be ok (trying to save a little money)? I use my car for daily driving and would like it to handle good around turns. Are the Konis worth the extra money? Thank you in advance.

That's a hell of a great combination... I'd go with the Koni SA in the front.
Also note that with the Koni SA, you can chose between stock height or ~3/4" lowered due to 2 perch locations on the shock.Eugenio_SS
almost stock triple-black 2000 SS convertible with 17x11s on all 4 w/ 315s at the track or on the street with 18x10.5s on all 4 w/ 315s: (1), (2)

cool - one other thing- would koni s/a rear shocks have a 3/4 drop as well? Do you know of a spring that lowers the car 3/4" that is not harsh? I have a bad back - I can deal with a lil bit firmer ride then my stock z/28 has but didnt want to get jarred when I hit a bump. I was thinking 3/4" lower due to the shocks and 3/4" more due to springs=1.5 lower. (I realize to do this I will have to put konis in the rear as well correct?)
Thanks!Last edited by LETHALxLS1; 11-04-2007 at 06:06 PM.

to get the 3/4" drop in the rear I have heard of people using rubber tubing insted of the OEM rubber spring bushing. Protects against the metal to metal contact and lowers the car.

awsome I will be going with the konis s/a in the front and bilstein HDs in the rear since I can lower the same amount in the rear by using hose.- I will have to try and find out what size hose. I appreciate all the help man.

I think garden hose does the trick, if not mistaken.

nah... many people use the hose-mod, and even in racing, SCCA cars run them as well... passes safety requirements and so far, never seen any documented failure.
The point of that rubber is just to avoid metal-metal contact.

Can you run rubber hose with the stock rubber isolators? I want to give my pro-kit a bit of a lift for taller tires. Eventually I'll put different rear springs in it.

I woudln't see why you couldn't add the rubber hose to add height, but I do believe that the rubber to rubber contact would eventually cause wear on one of the rubber components, most likely the hose.

exactly...if you need to take it aprat to just stick a band aid on it, might as well just stick a different spring in and not worry about it.

Sort of similar...do you HAVE to get your bilstein's revalved if you get lowering springs?

I have another question about the KONI shocks. Do the KONI S/a rear shocks provide a 3/4" drop like the fronts do? (I am thinking no)
