Need help on suspension and handling

I have a 99 Trans Am WS6 30th ann. I use to have a 93 trans am with a LT1 and was stiffer than my 99 ta. Maybe need new shocks and springs. The 93 had cheap air shocks and did alot better. What do ya think I should use? Oh, and what about those over the motor sway bars in the engine compartment? Do those even help?

the bar in the engine bay is a strut bar... does no handling difference... but is a nice piece.
if you want better handling/confort, spend your $ on shocks.
get good shocks, even if you keep stock springs for confort, you can increase the roll rate by getting different swaybars.
good shocks and a bigger front swaybar will make your car handle very well, while increasing confort... and not costing you a lot of $.

The WS6 comes with a 32mm front swaybar. Like Eugenio said though spend your money on good shocks (read Konis), and work from there. With the Koni SA shocks you can lower the car with the stock springs by using the lower perch on the front and doing the heater hose mod on the rear. If you want to tighten up the body roll you can upgrade to a 35mm front sway bar and a 22mm rear swaybar. Otherwise the rear 19mm will do what the factory wants it to and make the car have a tendency to understeer rather than oversteer.

Shocks and tires are the most crucial parts of your suspension, IMHO.
