White with Black Stripes- 1999 SS Camaro
Is it me or does the hand brake suck?
Seriously, what is wrong with the hand brake? I've had this problem since I first got the car. I will have you know, that I don't do any drifts using the handbrake, and don't do anything unnecessary with the handbrake besides just putting it up when I park. Now, sometimes.... Sometimes, I would go pull the hand brake, gently or harder then usual, and it comes up all the way. I have to set it down, and pull it again. I had this problem with my '91 RS also. Is there a design flaw in the Camaro? I don't know if the Trans-Am's have the same problem, but it's embarrassing if people are in the car and you go pull on the hand brake when you're parking the car, and it goes up all the way! How would you go about to fixing it?
Like I said, it doesn't happen all the time, but it's like it comes off it's track or something, or maybe it just runs out of clicks and just pops up. Once I put it down and pull it back up, it's fine for another few days or week.
One more thing, it's not like when the handbrake is set that it's too far up or too far down, it's right in the middle so it doesn't need an adjustment.Last edited by ItalianSS; 06-27-2009 at 08:04 PM.

Red Tint Jewelcoat- 2008 Trailblazer SS
Just needs adjusted....
Have to take off the rotors and the e-brake 'ring' to turn the adjuster a few clicks.
Plus, use the power of the motor for powerslides rather than the e-brake.

That is correct. Did a brake job on my wifes car and adjusted the E-brake while I was in there.
Works better than it ever has now.
Would have been nice though if GM designed an adjustment slot on the back side so you can use a tool to adjust without removing anything, just like any drum brake system. Sure would make taking the rotors off alot easier too.
Oh well, another brilliant idea that went by the way side.Last edited by Firebirdjones; 06-29-2009 at 08:04 AM.

Pewter- 2000 Pontiac Trans Am
mine does something similar, when i go to engage it sometimes it acts like the lever "slips" off a gear or something. let it down and it will grab again.
it holds pretty good, i can set it on the hill part of some ramps and it will hold the car.
