    Making some changes...

I have a few questions hoping to get some help on...

I recently installed a UMI tourqe are relocation bracket on my TA and opened up a whole can of pinion angle problems mostly because I have a Non Adjustable TArm so I plan to replace it with a adjustable one this spring because after looking for a tail shaft housing and seeing the price of the housings for the F-body its dam near the price of the adjustable TA so I'm keeping the relocation bracket... Another thing I think is contributing to the pinion angle problems is the installation of the Strange S60 rear I feel lifted the back up some as it's just a bigger unit..
So I was considering dropping the rear springs 3/4 of a inch to LEVEL the car. I have non adjustable LAC's... Can I lower it that small amount and what I'm thinking bringing it back to more a stock ride height along with the adjustable TA to fine tune the pinion angle with out using adjustable LAC's????
    Hope not to confusing

Shouldn't present any issues with non-adjustable LCAs. My car is lowered with a 9" and my LCAs aren't adjustable. My wheels are perfectly centered in the wheel well.

Are you running the factory rubber cushion at the top of the rear springs?

Quick way to drop it a bit is to remove the pad and just run some heater hose over the top loop.

Got my new UMI adjustable TA at Spring Carlisle pulled off the new old one and mocked up the new set up. Wanted to use the inside mounting holes but bracket wast hitting center section on my S60 so I went with the holes that lined up. After cycling the suspension I quickly realized first bump was certain under body damage. So off comes the bracket and modify it to fit the inside holes. Just wondering why UMI don't have the right bracket for different rear end's with out having to modify them? More to come soon

Also removed the spring perch rubbers and installed the rubber hose.. Hasn't been on the ground yet but I can see there will be a difference just by the size of them

    Making some changes...

    try having a custom 8.8.....lol.

I had to also heavily modify my mounting bracket as well to get enough room so that it does rub or crush the floor pan bump under the drv side rear seat.

I also fliped my bolts that mount to the rear and torque arm to where the nuts are on top and secured them by using lock washer and red locktite. Makes it easier to install them.

For pinon angle you need to remove the drive shaft and try to get it on a drive on lift so you're at ride height and suspension is loaded. Next use angle finder on the output shaft of the transmission and on the pinon after you remove the drive shaft. Make adjustments on the torque arm to equal the measurement taken off the transmission output shaft but opposite. For example.

    Transmission reads +2°
    Pinon needs to read -2°

This will equal out the drive shaft and eliminate any binding on the u joints.

That maybe all it needs the bottom has no issues top is hitting.
Scott the guys at UMI told me to take my measurements from the driveshaft just in front of the rear and on the rear it self and add those two numbers together and adjust until I get -2 degrees. I bought a digital guage to help to be exact this time

This video is about the best job of explaining how and why you set up driveshaft and pinon angles.

Yeah I've seen that before very informative.. I'm happy to say I finally have completed my project I have so many things going on right now so not very much time. Anyhow set the angle as per UMI's instructions after a few test drives and a 100+ mph run yesterday no vibration and surprisingly enough very little cabin noise... I'm happy once again

Pinion angle was set at 3 degrees downward angle. Drive shaft was at 1.0 degree and rear was set at 2.0.... The digital guage was Awsome as adjustments were very fine 10th of a degree at a time... Worth every penny. Also per instructions M6 cars should be set 2-3 degrees

Yep -2 to -3 degrees. I posted downward angle that is when the drive shaft and rear are both pointing down. When they face up that is positive pinion angle.
Pinion angle was set at 3 degrees downward angle.

I understand... knew it was a negative angle not positive so thought I'd mention it. You didn't have a negative sign in your post so thought I'd ask. Figured you had it correct.
