Koni SA 1139 (front)

This is a discussion on Koni SA 1139 (front) within the Suspension and Handling forums, part of the General Help category; I'm confused - after reading another thread: I'm about to install the 1139Sport (front), and 1140Sport(Rear) shocks on my car ...

    Koni SA 1139 (front)

I'm confused - after reading another thread:

I'm about to install the 1139Sport (front), and 1140Sport(Rear) shocks on my car with stock spring and planning to do the heater hose mod on the rear - where should the perch be setup on the front?

I though the upper perch was for stock height, and lower perch allowed for a 3/4" drop?

also, any recommendation on the settings of the shocks?

with heater hose on the rear, i was thinking of 2 sweeps from soft
and the front with lower - 1 to maybe 1 1/2 from firm

Lower perch is correct for the drop with stock springs.
And as far as settings there is no right or wrong way to go as everyone has different taste. Just start with the fronts set around 3-4 sweeps from full soft and set the rear at full soft, then adjust to your liking.
Just for a point of reference I have Strano Springs with Koni's and have the fronts at 4 sweeps from full firm and the rears are 1/4 turn from full soft. And IMO my car is a tad on the firm side but I like it.

Mine are on the upper perch and that is the way they came in the box.

My front Koni SA's came set on the softest setting from the factory. I first wanted to see how many sweeps I had, and I discovered I've got 8 1/2 sweeps. I rode around on full soft for a week or so and liked it, but since they were adjustable, I thought I'd start playing. I bumped them up 3 1/2 sweeps and it was much firmer. After a brief interstate trip, I decided it was too firm and started backing down a sweep until I found what I was looking for (which was pretty much the stock ride, but on lowering springs-Strano springs, I might add). At the moment, they're set at 1 1/2 sweeps from full soft and I think that's where I like them for daily driving duties...but of course since they're adjustable, it's no problem at all to firm them up for a track day or whaterver...
