i just remember when I came back after the first run, the announcer said "can somebody please ride with jaison?"

first run 62 seconds, last run: 51 seconds. the other f-bods were doing like 42/44.

I think it was Eugenio who said that it's better to start @ stock, drive your car, then figure out what to modify from there. I think mine has WAYYYY too much invested into it, like a noob w/a blank check just threw money at it figuring something would work. The wreck last year had me so paranoid that I felt I had to over-embelish teh suspension just to feel safe.

consider strano's method too: konis and sway bars THATS IT!

That's one way we setup cars, but not the only way... And it's not how I setup cars for folks looking to be competitive as they can because you'd also want springs.

I need to get some of your springs. my ride quality on the street/hwy is still too harsh for enjoyment. I want it to be cadillac smooth-any suggestions?

i thought there was a trade off of performance for a very smooth ride and likewise for comfort...

Buy a Cadillac? I'm only kidding (mostly).

I consider this to be a Sports/GT car, not a luxury car, and not a Sports car in the sense of an Miata or Elise. It's also kind of low-tech with the solid axle. Solid axles aren't found under much these days, not because of cost (they are cheap), but because of dynamics. You can help those dynamics a lot, but you can't make wine from water. Better water? Hell yes, but there is a limit.

Pro-kits don't tend to ride well even compared to other springs because they aren't stiff enough... that's right, I said because they are soft they ride worse. Seems odd, but it's not when you consider that the car will get down to the bumstops as you drive. The Eibach's aren't stiff enough for how much the lower the car, so you tend to ride around closer to them, and have less spring support as you move toward the stops, so you hit the stops a bit harder than you would on a set of my springs.

It's a game, you could also put real stiff springs but again there is a point of diminishing returns. Too much spring rate just keeps the suspension from being compliant when you need it.

I made my springs to work in conjunction with good dampers. And what we went for was matched and controlled dynamic movements. Basically, I know we'll use the bumpstops, and I'm not afraid of them.... the trick is to not slam onto them too hard/quickly, while leaving a supple enough wheel rate that the car doens't ride like a tank when you aren't on the stops.

Not a lot different than trucks. Ride around in an S10 that's overloaded and it ride like crap, despite "soft" springs because you don't have good working travel left. In that case a truck like a 2500HD with stiffer springs will ride better. But that doesn't mean we want to drive around in a 3500HD Dually if we don't have a need for the spring those things use.
