GTO Steering Wheel Shimmy
I've got a 2004 GTO (M6) with just under 38,000 miles. About nine months ago I put some ROH wheels (18x8) on it. Ever since, it seemed to vibrate a bit. It seems to have pregressively worsened. I took the car in to have the wheels rebalanced a few weeks ago and the tech found that one of the wheels is out of round.
This bent wheel is on the right rear and my steering wheel starts to shake right around 55 mph. Obviously a bent wheel can cause vibration, but I didn't think I'd have a shimmy in the steering wheel if the bent wheel was in the back.
Could something else be wrong or would a bent wheel cause this regardless of what corner it's on?

do the wheels require a hubcentric ring to center the wheel on the hub? if there is a gap between the wheel center and the hub mounting, then the wheel may not be perfectly centered and causing the vibration.

I installed the hub rings that were supplied with the wheels. I know I have a bent wheel, but I didn't think it would cause the problem I've experiencing.

a bent wheel in the rear won't cause the steering wheel to shake.

i went threw the same problem, but luckey for me it was just a balanced issue. the car would be fine till you went on the freeway. then it would shake the hell out of me, mirrors. i thought it was in the steering and it was the right wheel. but after putting 3.75 oz of weight on it made a world of difference.
but everything was shaking, even the steering a lil
