I used a 3" cutoff blade to cut an X in the nut. Then I was able to knock the nut off. I put some lithium grease on and around the nut when I put it back together to try and keep the same thing from happening again.

On other cars, I have cut strait down through the post and the king nut with air cutoff and/or a dermel.

If the nut does'nt just fall off after that you can smack the post with a 3/8 or 1/4 blunt center punch and a hammer.

It should drift through what's left of the nut or the nut will break off.

I have also used a cutting torch too, but I don't recommend that route if you plan to reuse anything below the king nut.

    Just my .02.
