front suspension parts questions
Ok so I need to replace my front shocks. I just do DD and I'm going with Monroe sensatrac shocks. I heard about KYB but not sure. My car is lowered in the front and I want to restore it to OEM height. I'm tired of the scraping and is kinda of tough to drive with bumps and holes on the roads of Orlando, FL. Since I don't know the condition of the strut mounts I'm ordering those too. My questions are:
I'm ordering the parts from rockauto.com. they have different options for front springs. I'm thinking about buying the moog ones part# 60114. They are listed as constant springs. What does that mean and will these be the same as OEM ones? i can get the ac delco ones for a little bit of more money.
The strut mounts are from moog as well. I noticed they have the strut mount part# K6516 and K6517(left and right). they sell another part called the insulator (sachs #82804)and it looks like the strut mount doesn't come with it. Is this correct? Do I need to order a couple of insulators as well? I don't think the shocks include them.
I'm just looking at the easiest way to install the shocks. I know I can probably remove the strut mounts and reuse them but I don't know if the shock's nuts are froze. I guess i can order everything and if can get the mounts off and are in good shape reuse them and return the new ones.

What will be the easiest way to remove the nut from the shocks? Im thinking that the shaft will spin if i start cranking on it. I don't have air tools but my friend does.

I am responding to your second post, clamp the spring down, then sawzall the shaft. That's what I did. Too bad you didn't live closer, I'd borrow you my Macpherson tool.

Thanks anyway lol. I appreciate it. I have a mechanic friend that had a wall press for compressing springs. Is quite easy.

Thanks Tom. So the mount is completely metal? it doesn't have any rubber? I might try to use the old ones. that will save me some money big time. I will order the insulators.

just finished the fronts. The nut came out no issues with my impact air tool. I installed them with eibach springs for now to test drive them.
