Hey guys started my install this evening an hope to finish up tomorrow. I have a couple of questions. Should I reuse the rubber pad on the rear springs or get heater hose? Can anyone tell me any tips or tricks to getting the front shocks off? This is a Pro kit that is being used with 18" ZO6 wheels an revalved bilstien shocks that also will be going on tomorrow.

I would reuse the rubber unless you want it to sit alot lower in the rear.

Spring compressor for the front

Do I need the compressor to get it off the car or to get the spring off the stock shock? I am not reusing the stock stuff.

You need the compressor to get the spring off the strut.

I am doing mine now. MAN I AM stuck I have the front struts out but the nut on the top of the strut is rusted so it crumbled when I tried to put a socket on it. I need to get that top strut mount off or buy new. 160.00 for the top mount from GM. I don't want to cut it off but I don't have any ideas. I have new struts and springs just don't have a top mount. Ideas?

WD-40, and if you can't grab it with an impact. You're going to have to cut it off.

I'm getting my shocks used so don't know if I will get the nut. I did find out it is a M10x1.5 nut that you can purchase at any hardware or tool supply house.

Its a bitch, i did mine twice. Was new enough that the nut was fine and things went fairly smooth. Hard to get enough clearence to get them off. Spring compressors are definately needed. If you know someone with the actually machine they use to compress them its much easier.

you're putting prokits... you better reuse the rubber to go on top of the springs... otherwise, you'll have 0 suspension travel, and your springs will actually be the bumpstops. the Heater hose is good for stock springs so you get an extra 3/4" drop. remember, you'll be getting a prokit drop + 3/4" drop on the rear (too much)

I am asking if any one used heater hoes on the BOTTOM of the rear spring to keep from metal on meal contact? You know between the spring and the axel shaft? I didn't want the spring perch to rub away the powder coating on the spring which leads to rust. Which I am having a rust problem with my SS. One winter in Colorado and one in New York will put about 10 years on a car, but hauling a$$ on the mountain roads and t tops off down broadway made it worth it.
