edelbrock or bilstein shocks?

bit of a newbie question but does anyone know which shocks are better... without sacrificing ride comfort the edelbrock performer ias shocks or the bilstein sport shocks... from my understanding the edelbrock front shocks are better than the bilsteins but the bilstein rear shocks are better than the edelbrocks would it be recomended to mix and match?

Bilstein HD hands down are a far better damper for our cars.

Are the bilsteins softer or as firm or stiffer than SSZ shocks and what % is the rebound rate?

i just switched from stock to bilstein hd (with stock springs), and it's like a miracle. also, bilstein has a special valving that prevents the oil in the damper from foaming, meaning they keep working well on bad roads and heat.

Bilstein for the win! I'd rather go with the Koni's though. I'm running KYB AGX just due to the price and being adjustable.

The Bilsteins made a huge improvement over my stock shocks, I have the stock springs, and my car rides and handles great. No side step on bumps, limited body roll, and comliant ride.

couldn't have put it better.

no, i don't think you would compromise your ride comfort. of course, your car will be a little stiffer with the new shocks anyway. i'm gonna get sfcs as well.

Does that mean you dont have to slow down and ease your car over a bump or dip?

You guys are saying they are stiffer than the SS DeCarbon shocks. Do you know if the Bilstein HD are 50/50 up and down, bump/rebound??

not as much, the shocks definitely prevent the car from diving that far. i don't scub the pavement with my air dam as often as before!

My car is a 2002 Z-28 it has 12,000 miles on it, I did all of my suspension stuff one step at a time so I could see how it performed. The Bilstein shocks were first and they made the biggest improvement over the other mods, reduced body roll, helped the side step on bumps, firmed the ride a little but in a good way. Strano sway bars were next, and they reduced body roll, transitions thru turns was much better, the ride quality stayed about the same(firmer). The above two changes made the most improvements overall.
UMI adj.PHB rod/poly ends, not much change in the car, the car no longer side steps on turns w/bumps. I next did 2pt SFC, and a STB, no big improvement, but the car felt tighter over smaller bumps/ripples. I have the stock 16 wheels with BFG KDW, I get compliments all the time on how the car rides and handles. I wish I would have gone with the Koni shocks, but Im totally satisfied with what I have.

I have a '98 T/A and, like jumper, did my mods in smaller steps. I went with the 35mm front and 21mm rear sway bars first...that made a huge improvement in cornering and body roll. Then went with Eibach Pro kit and revalved Bilsteins the same time I installed SLP 3pt SFC and K2 3pt STB. I had the wheels aligned with 1.5 degrees negative camber in the front (back has .5 degrees negative camber from the lowering) and the car handles like it is on rails. I autocross mine with with some super-sticky tires and I couldn't be happier.
