Can't hook...No traction
I just rebuilt my 10 bolt, I know, everyone says never rebuild, upgrade to a 12 bolt or 9", but that's easier said then done when u don't have the money to do it....Anyway, I put a Auburn Pro Series Posi in, Motive 3:73's, UMI non-adj torque arm and a LPW rear cover for some extra strength....Before I was running the stock 3:23's and it hooked pretty good, but now I can't hook for crap in 1st and 2nd gear, her ass is all over the place, and by the way I have an auto not a m6.....All my mods are in the Sig below....Can someone please help me out here and tell me what I could do to make this car hook up better....I would greatly appreciate it

Well bigger and/or sticker tires would help. For suspension a set of LCAs with relocations brackets will help and a good set of shocks on all four corners. Springs can help as well, to help the cars weight transfer from front to rear.

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
3.73 & a4...wow...that's gotta be FUN!!!
definately do some boxed lower control arms-and sticky tires...see where that puts you. I would suggest drag shocks after that and then a tq arm relocation

Be carefull when putting the sticky tires on. If you have an auto, you can probably get away with it for now. If you are running an m6 they are a little harder on the rear end.
X2 for Strano. He'll fix you up.
If your interested in a spare rear pm me. I'm close to Pittsburgh.
Good luck with your build.Drag racing...just another numbers game.

I agree 100%...
Here's my A4 342 geared 113,000 mile 100% stock suspension'd 2000 SS
and here's the same car with Strange drag shocks, boxed lower control arms, Spohn chassis mount torque arm, Spohn double adjustable panhard bar...
Big Difference, huh? LMAO...
The biggest difference was going back to the stock rear shocks, adding a Spohn 25mm rear swaybar and removal of front swaybar...
My opinion, based on what I did to my car and how it has reacted....
Slap some Mickey Thompson drag radials on it and be done...
My car 60 footed a best of 1.58 with nothing more than ProStars and MT drag radials. No better in 2nd pic, and actually worse and slower by a tenth in the bottom pic...
My car is now back to stock suspension since after adding everything that everyone told me I "had to have", the car was absolutely no quicker, or better launching.
Car weighs 3755# with me in it...

Thanks for all the info guys, I appreciate it....I'm gonna call Ryan at UMI and also Sam Strano and see what they say....I go to school at Penn State and UMI is only 20 miles from here and I just saw that Sam Strano is not to far from me also, so again thanks for all the info guys.....One other question tho....I'm running the stock ws6 wheels and tires....275/40ZR17, would moving up to maybe 285 or 295 help me at all???.....Will they fit???

Well, I only launch at 1300-1500 rpm's, so lowering that isn't really an option for me. Same results launching from an idle anyway.
If nothing else, yanking the one wheel up on every pass makes for cool pictures.
I think it's much more impressive to be able to say I have ZERO suspension mods and get high 1.5 or low 1.6 sixty foots.
