    Bushing shot?

Every time my car shifts into 2nd gear under a little bit of power it makes a clunk noise. You can feel that it is right underneath the center counsel, I know that is where the long support for the rear end goes into a support with a bushing around it (i don't know what its called). How would I know for sure if that is shot and if it is how would I replace it? Or if that isn't the problem what else could it be?

    auto tranny that shifts hard
z28 convertible (if that makes any difference)
already replaced lower control arm bushings

Check to make sure the bolts are tight. Sometimes they loosen up over time. You can also push/pull on the torque arm and see if it moves/rattles. Might also check the tranny mount while you're under there.

I figured it out the tranny mount is junk. It completely seperated from the tranny and the reason it was clunking is because there is a built in catch that it keeps slamming on.

    Thanks for the input

i dont know about that...poly trans mounts tend to be harsher than oem and transmit a lot of vibration. most DD or non all out cars skip poly for the trans

I put the poly tranny mount in and you can feel a little more vibration than if it was a stock one but I think I can live with it. It fixed my problem its smooth between gears now.
