    Brake install

Just got my hps pads and was wondering other than install university if anyone had any tips for installation. I heard that one of the pins or screws can freeze up so any extra info before I get elbow deep would be appreciated.

Mods don't know if this is the right section so please move if necessary.

I just changed mine and used install university. The only tricky part was the 16mm open-end wrench part, which I didn't know about until reading install university. Literally didn't take long at all. I changed just the front pads/rotors.

Did you get rotors also? If so, what kind to compliment those HPS?

have a breaker bar handy if you're doing rotors. put a big towel under the driver's side front wheel area under the master cylinder. Grease the clips. If doing the rear rotors make sure the parking brake is NOT on.

I will not be doing rotors as of now just pads on all 4 corners and new fluid. And thanks for the parking brake heads up I need to tighten that up while i'm in there.

I think that tightens up by the handle. Pretty sure you gotta get a screwdriver inside by the gear and somehow adjust it. Forgot how exactly.

Mine has auto adjusted twice, went to pull the handle up and it felt like the cable snapped, put it back down and it was tighter.

Just buy a can of brake anti squeel. Usually sprays red. Spray everything that is metal to metal. The little guide metal clips can squeak also. Just take a hammer to your ratchet Mine seems to come off easy, but ive hand them off way too many times Obviously dont let the calipers hang by the rubber hose. Are you sure you need new rears? The Parking brake is a little sprocket that turns to adjust. For sure grease the slide pins.

The pads were a gift it was either those or braided lines so I got the pads. SO to tighten the e-brake I have to get under the center console then?

Yes, i think you can adjust it with it on as well but its harder. I think after like 30 times of pulling the ebrake up it should auto adjust itself, maybe try that.

I got to look at someones rear end today and could see the screws where I need to adjust them. They won't be on in time for the autox so i'm in no rush now.
