    BMR K-Member installed

well last saturday night i finally got time to install the bmr k-member i ordered, overall quality and welds looked really good.

i did get a chance to weight both k-members

    factory-55.8 lbs

    BMR-26.4lbs

so around 30lbs total weight savings and the biggest upside is a lot more room to work with. the bmr k took half the time to install compared to removing the factory unit.

    overall a well spent $500.00

well if you have the extra cash the get one but if not then a cam package might be a better choice.

also i ordered a stock style fiberglass hood and i will weigh both units to see weight loss, and a remove my battery from the front to the rear so total i should have lost around 100lbs off the nose since my last run at the track, hopefully i will see a 60' time improvement.

other changes since my 12.27 run were aluminum driveshaft, fix 2-3 shift point from 6,500rpm to 6,200rpm(big difference), and removed another 30+lbs from around the car

shooting for 11.999 wish me luck, track opens on the 15th of march.

any pix of during installation, any recommendations for people doing the installation ?
hick-ups, stuff to avoid while doing it, where to best support the engine while removing the k-member.
would be nice to have more info ;-)
    Thanks,

    Thanks,
sorry no pix. the biggest problem i ran into was the rear lower control arm bolts. They did not want to come out, air hammer, sludge hammer, and lots o w-d 40, i ended up removing the k-member and a-arm together to get a bigger swing with the hammer to remove the extremely corroded and rusted bolt. Just support the engine from the pan with a block of wood and a jack. took from 7:00 p.m Saturday till about 1:00 am Sunday. with lots of breaks and taking your time, after all this is our hobby so make it fun and don;t turn it into a job.
