abs inop...help

for some reason my abs inop and brake light come on. I havent found out why its doing this it doesnt come on rite away it just pops up when ever it wants to and usually shuts off when i turn car off but then pops back up again later. Can any1 give me any info?

If you know someone with a high-tech scanner, have them pull the ABS codes. The codes will give you an idea of what to look for. FYI - Scanners at Autozone, PepBoys, and Napa will NOT pull ABS codes. You have to either have a mechanic's scanner or take it to the dealership unfortunately.

If this is intermittent, it sounds to me that you could have a wiring short going to one of the ABS wheel speed sensors perhaps. Check all of your wheel speed sensor connections first. Make sure they are all plugged in and secure. You can also try taking them out and making sure they are clean. Sometimes they get gunked up.
