im thinking level 3 (maybe two?) with all the goodies...however...is it really worth getting all the bells and whistles...
ive always been the kind of guy to fix it and fix it right the first time...or is this overkill for a DD with a couple passes a year?
im thinking LS7 427 Cast Iron Short Block?
    New Bearings-160
    Viper Style 2nd Gear-125
    Powdercoating-200
    Cryogenic Treatment-350
    REM (R) Polishing-250
    Faceplated Gearset-650
    total is...$3784(lvl3) or $3084(lvl2)

wooddaniel have you got yours back?
Shit no. They have by no means taken too long thouhg. It's only been 2 weeks. It will be here thursday according to Tick. So far Im impressed with them, they have called me every time something changed.

Level 2 with new bearings. But my reverse gear and my 5-6 synchros were bad and they normally re use those so it cost me a hair more.

I'd also do the Viper output shaft/tail housing while you're at it. The output shaft in these T56's aren't the strongest. To put it best, they are equivilent to a 350 turbo style output shaft or a muncie M20/M21 from 1970 prior.

When it comes to stick cars, I tend to put the best parts available/affordable in the trans, even if they are street cars 99% of the time. I like to have it there when I want it and not worry about something breaking if I want to play.
If you are planning a 427, there would be no question in my mind I'd want the best T56 I could build, or throw a Jerico or 400 turbo in there.

You can paint it yourself for about $20 if you REALLY wanted to have it painted

I prefer the natural appearance, but it's all personal preference. I definately wouldn't spend money on powder coating it.
Something else to consider, coating the case would not allow the aluminum to disipate heat..which is what it's so well known for. A minor side affect in this case, but it's up to you.
What I do when building muncies for myself and others, or any other aluminum case trans, is stick the bare case in the glass bead cabinet. After a round of that I wash the case down with a scotch brite pad which has a soapy ingredient, and gives the case a nice smooth finish that has a slight sheen to it, much like original. Just some of the extra effort I do when restoring a car.

If you can swing it, I'd go for the larger output shaft as well, even if it isn't intended to be a drag car. I've seen them snap behind stock power, and if you plan a 427 in the future,,,well.....again it's up to you.

I know when I tear mine down, I won't hesitate to do it all. It will be overkill for my wifes near stock daily driver, but I'll know I can hammer on it when I want without worrying. Just a piece of mind for me.

When I had my transmission shipped to RPM, I specifically told them NOT to paint it because I wanted the stock appearance on my car.

It also helped them to identify that I received the SAME transmission back as usually when you send one in, you get another one they already have rebuilt from another car.

I specifically asked for my same one back since it only had 12K miles on it.

I also checked the serial number
