Check "quicktime bellhousings" They make the adapters and/or bellhousings for all the LS swaps and any trans you prefer. I believe it can be had either way, with hydraulic or mechanical clutch setup.

I emailed Richmond tech section regarding a swap. Maybe a Richmond 5 or 6 speed?? What do you think?

Yeah Richmond uses the same muncie bolt pattern so it's a drop in with the same bellhousing. There are some TKO 5-600's that also use the same bolt pattern but you are getting into rail type shifters again with this trans (made by Tremec,,,see a pattern here??), and they also have a reputation of not being able to shift above 6,000 rpm.
However places like American Powertrain are taking apart new TKO5-600's for shifting upgrades, new bigger sincro's and dog rings, modified shift rails, shift forks, and other upgrades for about $800. It allows this trans to shift smoothly up to 7500 rpm. I plan to do a retro swap with one soon and see how it does.

Thanks, I was not aware of that. A lot of my muscle car (tri-5 Chevies) buds use richmond, but I have to say, I've never seen anyone fast shift theirs. Just cruise 'round town, looking cool. Let me know how yours works out.. Kinda hate to give up my 5th or even 6th gear.
