Twisted driveshaft pics inside
I have an M6 01 SS Camaro w/16k mi and a lot of bolt ons and took it up to the track this past friday. These pics i have are what is left of my pop can of a driveshaft. Now i have heard plenty of times that the trans and rear end are the weak links on these cars...more so the 10 bolt rear. My best run all day was a 13.22 1/4 and didnt have any problems..about 8 runs. The run that broke my driveshaft was right after they had the highly modified cars running 10's and lower on the track so they had ALOT of trac-bite down. If I would have know this i would have done a lot of things differently but i guess you live and learn.
I guess what my main question is: Is this normal or do i have a lucky rabbits foot in my ass that nothing expensive broke?

Sounds like its time to get either a performance driveshaft or rob a steel one out of a 2.73 auto car. That is the first time I've heard of a bolt on car in your time zone breaking a shaft though. ouch. Id also say lucky nothing else went with it.

Have you done the drill mod? This is exactly why the restriction is there.

^^^HUH???^^^
You just got unlucky my friend. I have a friend who broke his at the track (1/8th) running high 8s. And he is almost stock even drivetrain (he did beef up his tranny allready for future mods to come). He wasn't even hard on it. the max he dumped the clutch at was like 2500 RPMs. I haven't figured out how he did it... I have 4.10s H/C full bolt ons minus a FAST 90/90 and have been to the track many a times have dumped anywhere between 2000-5000 RPM depending on if I got the ETs on. the only thing in my drivetrain that has been beefed up is the tranny and I have had no problems. I break everywhere else BUT the drivetrain...LOL.
His did the same as yours just broke. Nothing else was harmed.
