    Unhappy Trouble shifting

I am kind of rusty on driving a manual transmission car. When I am shifting down to first or up to second it seems to take more effort than I think is necessary. It kind of clicks in to those gears. The car has 150,000 miles on it, I am not sure if the clutch has been replaced. I have a pro 5.0 short shifter.

Can anybody tell me what the problem is?

I like the pro 5.0 better than the factory hurst, but I didn't try the others so I can't compare to them. Not sure about your problem though. A decent local transmission shop will drive it and tell you if they think it's ok or not and will not charge you.

    Thanks

I had a fidanza and didn't like it. My buddy's have always had Pro 5.0s so when I got a chance to pick one up I jumped on it. The fidanza wasn't short enough for me. The car is in washington and I am in conneticut so I haven't had a chance to try the new shifter out. I can't wait! I went to one trans shop and they just backed it up and drove it forward again. The guy said it was fine but I didn't think that was good enough to check it out. I haven't had time to go to another one since. Thanks for the advice. By the way your car is gorgeous.

Thanks. This is a pro5.0 with the Lou's short stick and Hurst knob. I can't imagine using a shorter setup and being able to grip the knob decent.
