    Transmission stuck in gear

    My transmission recently got stuck in gear, I was getting on it earlier that drive home, and when I came to a stop I popped it in neutral and let out on the clutch, but it stalled. When in gear it would be stuck in 4th, when I would put it in neutral it would still be in 4th, but I could depress the clutch and it would not move.So a I figured that there was something wrong internally with the transmission, so I took it to a shop,( I had lost the ability to go into 5th gear before this happend) he opened it up infront of me, he said that shift fork was bent, and the pads had worn off. I said ok, fix it. I get it home put the tranny back in. I tested it while it was on stands, i went through all the gears(tires spun) everything seemed fine, when I got it off the stands I put it in reverse backed up, tried to drive out, but now it was stuck in reverse!!! Help someone, what else could cause this?


    I didn't replace the throwout bearing, clutch or slave cylinder. I didn't have the available cash and was out sick from work.

    I forgot to mention that I could move the shifter from gear to gear, but when I would move it to another gear that it was not stuck in, and I would let out on the clutch, the car would hesitate and stall, like it was locked up. Hope this helps.

    About the same thing happened with mine, the snap ring that holds the reverse fork in place could have left loose, if the mechanic stretched out the snap ring and didnt use a new one i could see this being your problem, the 5/6 fork left loose on mine which sent the keys floating through the gears as well, mines still in pieces, i could move the shifter but would not come out of 5th, just like yours is in reverse hope this helps, i would pull off the tailshaft section of the tranny and you should be able to see the problem

    Sounds like the builder didn't build it correctly .
