transmission noise!

when im in either 5th or 6th gear in my 98 camaro ss it has a high pitched whistle coming from the tranny. it a six speed. i can also hear the throw out bearing when im idling. its not loud but i can hear it. im wondering if the whistle is from the bearing or not and if it is how quick do i need to fix it. is it gonna damage something else or just be annoying till i can get it fixed?

get it changed quick. you dont want bearing material flying around in your bellhousing

I have the exact same thing on my T/A, but no throw-out bearing noise. I just assumed it was coming from the rear differential, which is not good either. I'll be getting my tranny rebuilt in the next couple of weeks, so I hope that fixes any issues with it.

Noises both at idle and on-hyway can be amplified by aftermarket shifters and clutches. If you have either of these mods, I suspect they are the cause.
