    Tranny concerns

This has been happening since i got the car but it seems like its getting worse now. The tranny is whining when you start getting past about 2k rpm. And if i shift it fast from 3rd to 4th basically everytime it goes to 4th it grinds, only when i shift it fast though. Shifting normal its ok but the whining in the tranny has gotten worse, any ideas? I dont know much about trannys. Especially M6's.

Grinding is usually indicative of the synchronizer going bad.

You sure the whining noise you are hearing isn't the rear end?

Depending on how loud it is, it may just be normal noise from the rotating components inside the transmission. All T56's have some whine, and it definitely gets louder with an aftermarket shifter, such as the Hurst that you have.

i dont think its the rear end, i can hear it directly where the shifter is. I know i have 2 wheel bearings going bad in the rear though.

I have an aftermarket Hurst Billet shifter and I don't hear any whining what-so-ever in my vehicle. Then again I've sent my transmission out for rebuild to RPM as well.

Prior to it being rebuilt though, I had the stock OEM Hurst Shifter and never heard any whining with that either.

I guess it could be a case by case basis.

i think it was the motor... I checked my dip stick today and it was kinda low, so i filled up the motor oil and almost all of that whining i heard is gone now.. weird, lol.
