    Tranny or Clutch???

Every once on awhile I have a REALLY hard time putting it in 1st,2nd or reverse. I mean I can put all my weight into it and it doesnt go into gear. This sux when I am on the road at a light, cause I then cant put it into gear right away. I will usually have to slam it into 3rd then 4th and like that I can then put it in 1st. WTF?!?!?

    Sounds like a clutch issue.

Typically, anytime you have trouble engaging gears while the car is stopped, its a clutch system release issue. It could be the master cylinder, slave cylinder, or even a pilot bearing.

Check your clutch fluid and look for leaks between the engine and trans bellhousing. There is a small square opening in the bottom of the bellhousing, its its dripping fluid from there, its probably your slave cylinder.

It may also be a good idea to change the fluid. Pick up some DOT4 brake fluid and bleed the system until the fluid comes out clear.

I do need to change the motor oil, so I will check for leaks in that area.

How do you bleed the system? link?
