Shifter Noise Solution/Fix
Well I just put in the Hurst billet pro aftermarket shifter, and I really like the shifts. I kind of want to do the shorter stick from ws6store or Lou too, seems like the stick itself could still be a bit shorter than the hurst supplied one.
Anyways, my question is does anybody have a fix for the rattle that is associated with aftermarket shifters? I can handle a bit, but it seems to rattle quite a bit on acceleration and is somewhat annoying. I do have rtv between the shifter and tranny too, so its not that.
I was thinking maybe a thin gasket between the shifter stick and shifter would clear it up? I dunno, let me know if you have done anything for this or should I just suck it up?

I have noticed the aftermarket shifters don't come with as nice of a boot to isolate the noise as well as the factory shifters.
Also the aftermarket shifters don't have the rubber isolators so they will naturally transfer more noise,,,just the nature of the beast. And this gets even worse with eurothane bushings on the transmission tailshaft and torque arm. Yuk!
Several reason why I still run a stock plain old shifter in mine, and never had a problem hanging gears with it while UMTR racing so I see no need to change.

I am thinking when I get the short stick from ws6store that I am going to dip the end into that plastic dip stuff. That way it will be insulated with a coating of rubber, just enough to keep it quiet. Then use teflon tape on the threads of the bolts to hold it on, that way it will be solid, but have less vibration and just enough rubber/plastic to absorb some noise.
